Thrift store Het Warenhuis

We kick off with probably the best-known thrift shop in Leiden. Not surprisingly, because The department store is a giant shop where you can find everything from clothes to books, furniture to kitchen appliances. In short: this is the place to go! And extra cool: at their little brother Circular Department Store materials such as wood, ceramics and textiles are reused to make new products. For example, sandblasted mugs, which are now used by the municipality. At the main branch on Willem Barentszstraat, you can have a drink or a nice lunch in between shopping. Moreover, Het Warenhuis also organises regular events and activities. So keep a close eye on the website!

Olive Oyl's Rusty Zipper

Lover of the 60s and 70s? Then you are at Olive Oyl's Rusty Zipper to the right place! Here you will find especially very cute and cheerful clothes. Owner Sabrina Vink has a knack for the most colourful items. You will find everything from purple suits to mackintoshes, trainers and dresses. There is too much to mention here, so you'd better come and have a look in the shop yourself.

De Slegte

The offer of second-hand bookshop The Slegte is huge, so you can find a suitable book for every reader here anyway. Study books, novels, children's books, travel guides and much more. The only downside to the huge selection? It makes you a bit too greedy. At the same time, of course, you can always pick up some extra books to give as gifts. Cleared out your own bookcase? Then you can sell your books to De Slegte so that they can make someone else happy. Ideal!

Thrift store Vintage & More

The name says it all: on the outskirts of Leiden you will find at Thrift store Vintage & More cool second-hand stuff. The location is easy to reach by bike, you can walk there from Leiden Lammenschans station or come by car if you expect to take home a lot of stuff. And that risk is high, because the assortment is huge: from tables and chairs to clothes, paintings, LPs, lamps and unique cameras. Before your visit, you can take a look at the webshop, but of course, the real treasures can only be found on location. Every last weekend of the month there is the Crazy Thrift Outlet. Here you can buy many items in bulk for very competitive prices. By the way, you can't hand in any items here, everything they sell here comes from house clearances.

Kilo Kilo Vintage

Kilo Kilo Vintage has several shops throughout the Netherlands, including in Leiden! You will not only find second-hand items from big brands here, but also really cool and unique items. Kilo Kilo Vintage namely pimps second-hand clothes by giving them a Kilo Kilo jacket. How does it work? For example by donating damaged vintage clothes to artists and clothing creatives, who then turn them into new items! And extra fun: you pay per kilo here instead of per garment. You pay just 35 euros for a kilo of clothes. There are new clothes on the shelves every day, so it is definitely worth stopping by!

The name of this shop stands like a house. So you will find nice items here. That's obvious. And second-hand, of course! Mother Didi and daughter Fleur run the shop together and sell second-hand clothes, shoes, home accessories, jewellery and Loveli care products (which are brand new). Follow Leuke Zaak via Facebook or Instagram to keep up to date with all the new arrivals. And stop by this shop, if only to admire its beautiful interior.

Heartthrob

In this shop in the heart of Leiden, you will find vintage, second-hand and new items. What's more Heartthrob not just any second-hand shop: you will find items from high-end labels. Think bags by Chanel or Louis Vuitton, for example. Or coats by Burberry. Such items are of course a bit pricier, but even with a smaller wallet you can certainly succeed at this cosy shop.
