Harmony: vegetable oils for your skin

Earlier we tipped Earth Line - fine skin care with vitamin E - and Sea Line, natural and certified skincare with Dead Sea salt. From the same Dutch manufacturer, there is also Harmonie: a line of organic natural cosmetics that is certified. This means that the natural ingredients are not only good for you, but also sourced in an environmentally conscious way. And the best part? You can choose from a wide range of care products, but the versatile oils in particular stand out. They give your skin and hair a well-earned boost, and all in a natural way.

Beauty oils: the thousand thing on your make-up table

In cooperation with Harmony

Oil is perhaps the most underrated multitasker in your bathroom. You can use it as a face oil, hair serum, body care, massage oil, make-up remover or even as a gentle cleanser. But that's not all. Mix a few drops through your day cream or foundation for extra nourishment as well as a subtle glow. Use it as a hair mask for dry ends or give your cuticles a boost. Even for your beard, eyelashes or eyebrows, oil works wonders. And did you know that with a drop of oil you can even revive your almost empty mascara? You read it: natural oils are the thousand thing on your make-up table.

Natural oils from Harmony

A great tip for on your greener beauty list are Harmonie's beauty and massage oils. They are made from natural ingredients - think oils from seeds, nuts and flowers - and are of organic origin. The products carry the BDIH label for certified natural cosmetics. That means: no synthetic ingredients, no microplastics, no animal testing and all made in Holland. Hence we are happy to tip this brand to you. The oils are cold-pressed - that means they are extracted without heating, so all the nutrients such as vitamin E, antioxidants and fatty acids are preserved - and they come in dark glass. This protects the oil from light and keeps it good for a long time. That is also important! About storing your personal care products properly, we wrote an article earlier.

Wondering which oil is right for you? Harmony has four pure and cold-pressed oils, each with its own characteristics.

  • Jojoba oil: a light, skin-friendly oil that absorbs quickly and helps moisturise, soothe and balance your skin. This oil closely resembles your natural skin algae, making it suitable for all skin types - from dry to oily. Jojoba supports the skin barrier, helps prevent premature skin ageing and is also suitable for sensitive areas. Ideal as a daily moisturiser, make-up remover, hair serum, massage oil or as a base in DIY recipes.
  • Argan oil: nourishes and restores dry, dull or mature skin. Rich in vitamin E and antioxidants that help against skin ageing and irritations. Also works super for dry hair, brittle nails and stretch marks. Absorbs quickly and leaves your skin feeling smooth and supple.
  • Castor oil: powerful and intense, perfect for stimulating hair growth. This oil conditions eyelashes, eyebrows, beard and scalp, makes dry hair stronger and fuller, and is also suitable for a moisturising face mask or a nourishing massage of dry spots such as elbows and knees.
  • Sweet almond oil: soft and mild, perfect for sensitive or dry skin. Absorbs well, deeply moisturises and leaves your skin silky smooth. Ideal as a massage oil, mild make-up remover, for baby care (tip: few drops in the bath) or use it as a base oil in combination with essential oils.

Natural care versus sustainable care

There is often confusion between ‘natural’ and ‘sustainable’. It is therefore useful to know the difference between ‘natural’ and ‘sustainable’ skincare, so you can make a better choice on the shelf for your skin as well as the planet. Natural care means that the ingredients are of natural origin, but this says nothing about the sustainability of the production process or the environmental impact. A natural ingredient can still be harmful to the planet, for instance because it requires intensive farming or because a lot of pesticides have been used. An ingredient might be ‘natural’, but certainly not sustainable. If you think it is important to make a more sustainable choice with your skincare, you should pay attention to other things such as natural ingredients of organic origin, reliable labels and also how (and where and by whom) the product is made.
