A small-scale boutique hotel, views over an azure bay and perhaps the most extraordinary hotel breakfast we have ever had. Hotel Alivi di Santa Giulia is one of those places where you can completely unwind, even in the middle of peak season. So make sure to save this hotel tip for Corsica, because addresses like this are rare. We spent a very long time looking for one ourselves.
Small-scale accommodation near Santa Giulia
Hotel Alivi di Santa Giulia is located near the famous bay of Santa Giulia in southern Corsica. This was our favourite region of the island: white sandy beaches, crystal-clear blue water, lovely beach bars and a relaxed atmosphere even in July. The four-star hotel has only ten rooms and, thanks to its intimate scale and communal areas, feels more like a luxury holiday home than a hotel. We also noticed very little of the high-season crowds by the pool. No early-morning towel-reserving race, as there were plenty of sun loungers. From the terrace you look out over the bay, and every room has its own terrace with a view of the sea, the garden or the surrounding greenery. The swimming pool is exclusively accessible to hotel guests.
You read it: we're fans. And the best part is yet to come: breakfast! Every morning, bowls of beautifully sliced summer fruit, warm brioche, fresh bread rolls, Corsican cheeses, jam and the best freshly brewed coffee of our entire holiday were waiting for us. No massive breakfast buffet, but a peaceful breakfast by the pool overlooking the bay. We would go back in a heartbeat just for this!
From the hotel you can be on the beach of Santa Giulia in no time. Porto-Vecchio, Palombaggia and the fortified town of Bonifacio are also nearby. You can find more tips for this region and the rest of the island in our tour of Corsica.
