For on your greener list is this nature outing with kids: The Nature Game at De Hoge Veluwe. Saskia went before you and had an awesome day in nature! The autumn colours were beautiful, but this interactive adventure is actually a tip in any season. The Nature Game is especially for families with children aged nine and up. It's exciting, it's educational AND you're out and about. Sounds like the perfect family activity? It is!
The Nature Game: treasure hunt on De Hoge Veluwe
The Nature Game is a kind of scavenger hunt 2.0 through a beautiful part of the Netherlands: De Hoge Veluwe. You start at the Museonder, the museum about everything that lives under the ground, where you immediately see cool things like a complete root system of a tree. There, or in the Park Shop opposite, for 2 euros you get a card with QR code, which opens the game in the app. And then? Then the adventure begins. You follow a 2.1-kilometre route and along the way solve riddles, search for animals and discover hidden stories about the Park and the Kröller-Müller Museum. It took us over two hours.
How does this scavenger hunt go?
The children hold the map and take you in tow. In the app, you will be shown videos and questions in different places that you use to solve a riddle. Each correct answer you write on the map, and from each answer you extract one letter. By the end of the route, you will have formed a secret word. The route ends at the Kröller-Müller Museum. If you still have the energy, you can visit this museum. Otherwise - as we did - grab a White Bike and cycle back to the Museonder via the cycle path. That's where your adventure ends. We thought such a solved puzzle was worth a hot chocolate and pancake. We scored those at Restaurant De Hoge Veluwe right opposite the Museonder!

Then you do need a separate ticket for that.
