Need a present for your sustainable girlfriend or for someone who could still use a bit of greenfluencing? Put Het Faire Oosten in Amsterdam-Oost on your list. This sustainable department store is full of clothing, accessories, jewellery, skincare products, books and lovely items for the home. Even if you don't need anything, browsing here is dangerously fun. Fortunately, for non-Amsterdammers, there is also a webshop.
Sustainable gifts and clothing under one roof
Het Faire Oosten opened in 2014 and grew into a department store of around 350 square metres. And yes, that really is big! Founder Magali and her team select everything with attention to, among other things, materials, working conditions, production and transport. You will find well-known more sustainable brands there, but also products from small entrepreneurs and local makers. What makes this shop so lovely in particular is that they do not simply buy a complete collection from every brand. From the range of various brands and makers, precisely those items are chosen that suit Het Faire Oosten and fit together. As a result, the clothing, tableware, jewellery, books, toys and gifts together form one tasteful whole. Truly curated, therefore. Eye candy, but with a better story.
You can find Het Faire Oosten at Waldenlaan 208 in Amsterdam-Oost. Prefer to browse from the sofa? Then view the collection in the online shop of Het Faire Oosten. In the video below, we take you through the shop. Spoiler: in the end, I find a great pair of jeans from Kings of Indigo
