In one of the most beautiful spots in Utrecht, namely on the Donkere Gaard, you will find coffeehouse and dinner bar Thyme. Where would you like us to start? At their wide selection of coffee and teas, including chai lattes, at their cauliflower hit Crispy Cauliflower Bun or with the interior: a jungle in the city with - if you are lucky enough to have a seat in the back - a view of the canals?
The best coffee in Utrecht?
At Thyme, it's all about ‘just’ good food without the fuss. No excessive luxury, but fine dishes made with love. Except for the coffee, which has to be the best in town. Thus the promise of the founders. On the menu you will find hits from all over the world: a Kimchi Grilled Cheese Sandwich for lunch, a Grilled Halloumi Pita Or of course that cauliflower hit, which Crispy Cauliflower Bun. For dinner, you can choose from a portobello burger, vega roti, vegan Indian curry or a traditional rendang (of beef), so plenty of choice for everyone. And everything is cleverly labelled: vega, vegan, gluten-free or nut-free - super handy if that's important to you. During the day, you can just walk in, and although you sometimes have to wait a while, luckily there are plenty of places. For dinner in the evening, or if you come with a larger group, you do need to make reservations.

At Thyme you can go all day: from breakfast to lunch to dinner, with lots of vegetarian options. The crispy cauliflower bun (bottom bun) is a real tip.
Thyme also as take-away or home delivery
Prefer to taste Thyme at home? No problem, they also have take-away and delivery. And if you live in Utrecht-Noord (Tuinwijk), you're in luck: they have a second location there where you can enjoy the same fine dishes. So what are you waiting for? Whether you want to sit by the canals, enjoy at home on the couch: Thyme has your covered.
