Often the sustainable tip is: go for second-hand. But with some garden tools, that's a bit different. So much has changed in recent years that new is sometimes actually the better choice. Think of lawnmowers, hedge trimmers and strimmers. Previously, they almost always ran on petrol. With a pull cord, a lot of noise, and not exactly great for the environment, your ears, or the neighbours. And then came cordless tools. Simply put: garden tools that run on a rechargeable battery instead of fuel. You simply recharge the battery when it's empty, just like your phone. You click it in, press a button, and you're ready to go. No hassle, no emissions during use, and much quieter. This not only makes working more pleasant but also a logical step if you want to approach your garden a bit more greenly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Accu garden tools: choose one brand for all your electric devices<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Before you switch, it's good to know this: many brands work with one battery system. This means you use the same battery for multiple devices. Super handy. So you can just as easily click the battery from your lawnmower into your hedge trimmer or trimmer. This saves not only money but also hassle. You need fewer separate batteries and your shed stays a lot tidier. An example of such a brand is Ryobi. Charging is simple, but do it safely. Place your battery in a dry spot and not in direct sunlight. Heat can cause a battery to wear out faster and, in the worst case, overheat. Charging in an ice-cold shed is also not a good idea, as low temperatures are bad for your battery's performance and lifespan. Always use the charger that belongs to the device. It is designed for the battery and prevents it from being charged too much or too quickly. Have you heard stories about batteries catching fire? They do happen, but they are usually due to incorrect use. Think of damaged batteries, charging in an unsafe location, or using the wrong chargers. Tip: charge your battery when you are nearby and set an alarm so you can unplug it on time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you're not using your tool for a while, remove the battery and store it separately. Ideally, keep it half-charged, not completely empty and not fully charged. This is better for its lifespan. And store it somewhere that isn't too hot or too cold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
