PERSONAL DATA

Through my platform, I process personal data. Which data this is, I explain in the various services I provide. I also always state the purposes for which I process these data and the legal basis on which I do so.

THIS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT MY NEWSLETTER

For my newsletter, I use a direct marketing mail system Mailchimp. You can only sign up for my newsletter yourself, so you won't just end up on an email list.

To send you a newsletter, I process your name and e-mail address and no other data. I do this with your permission. You can withdraw that consent at any time by unsubscribing. You can do so via the unsubscribe link in those e-mails.

I will keep your data until you have cancelled the newsletter and then make sure I permanently delete your data within 30 days.

I process your data other than your name and e-mail address only to send you newsletters with editorials, sweepstakes, marketing messages, updates and other information about thegreenlist.nl.

here's what you need to know if you collaborate on an article, for example as an editor, interviewee or guest blogger

I work with regular (freelance) editors and occasional guest bloggers for text productions. People are also regularly interviewed and acted upon for articles on my site.

With this kind of collaboration, I also process personal data from you such as your name and address details, your company and bank details (if payment must be made), your e-mail address and phone number. If you are not an entrepreneur, but do write paid articles, I will ask for a copy of your ID once. Sometimes I also process a photo. Like a photo I post with an article.

I process this data pursuant to our agreement (e.g. if it involves paid collaborations). In some cases, we do not have an agreement and I process personal data for this purpose with your consent. In that case, you always have the right to withdraw that consent. I only use your personal data for the purpose for which it was collected, namely the placement of the article as we agreed. So I may not simply process your data again for another article or post.

I keep the personal data I process for these collaborations for as long as the relevant article or post is online and for three months after it is taken offline (regardless of the reason).

Besides privacy, copyright also plays a role in this. I will never publish anything without your permission, and if I take a tip from you, I will also let you know in advance. Also for the use of photos, I will seek prior coordination because I feel it is important to safeguard portrait and copyright. SEE ALSO MY DISCLAIMER.

HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW IF YOU ENTER OR COLLABORATE IN COMPETITIONS

On the Instagram channel @THEGREENLIST.NL and in my newsletter, I regularly organise win competitions (and sometimes closet sales). To ensure a fair draw, to be able to notify the winner and sometimes send a product immediately. I process this data pursuant to our agreement. By registering for a win action, we enter into an agreement based on the CONDITIONS FOR WINNING, so always read those carefully!

The following data will be used in the win events:

  • For Instagram win campaigns: (i) I process the Instagram username of all participants upon entry and to draw winner; (ii) I use the Instagram username to be able to announce the winner; and (ii) I may use the winner's naw details or an email address to be able to complete the prize draw myself (e.g. by sending a product immediately).
  • In the case of competitions via the newsletter: (i) I process an e-mail address and name of all participants upon participation and in order to draw a winner; (ii) I mention the first name and first letter surname of the winner in the next newsletter and you will also be personally notified via e-mail; and (iii) I may use the winner's name or e-mail address to be able to settle the prize award myself (e.g. by sending a product immediately).

If I send a parcel myself, I will only use the name and address details for this purpose: to be able to send a parcel. I always do the shipping via the PostNL app. In practice, it is more common for the brand or PR agency to handle the award itself. They then do the handling and shipping. This can be handled in two ways. Option 1: I provide a winner's Instagram channel to the brand/PR agency, they then contact the winner via a DM on Instagram. Option 2: I receive the name and email address and pass it on to the brand/PR agency.

Once the competition is over, I will ensure that your details are permanently deleted within 30 days at the latest.

Thegreenlist.nl is not liable for how brands/PR agencies handle (personal) data. Please read the privacy statement of the brand/PR agency concerned.

THIS IS WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW IF YOU COMPLAIN ABOUT THE RUNNING OF A COMPETITION

Anyone who feels that I am not following the rules in win competitions can complain about it. The complaints procedure from the CONDITIONS FOR WINNING applicable.

I keep a file of all submitted complaints in which name and address details are kept in conjunction with the relevant win. I have a legitimate interest in this. The Code of Conduct on Promotional Games of Chance requires me, as a provider of winnings, to have a complaints procedure. In order to effectively implement this complaints procedure, I need to know what is going on and I therefore need some data. I only use this data for a proper complaints settlement and not for other purposes.

As complaints can also be lodged with the Gambling Authority in case of dissatisfaction with the complaint handling and in view of possible liabilities, I keep these data for the duration of the statute of limitations. This usually involves five years.

This is what you need to know if you buy something from my webshop

If you buy something in my webshop, I will only use the name and address details and e-mail address for this purpose: to be able to send you your purchase. I always ship via PostNL. Would you like to know more about this? Then check out my shipping and returns policy.

THIS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT LINKS TO THIRD PARTIES IN articles and social media sharing buttons

My articles and Instagram content regularly contain external links to websites or apps outside thegreenlist.nl's domain. An example of external links are the affiliate links I use. For example, to a product for sale through bol.com. I also sometimes use apps to manage my Instagram account such as raffle websites in win competitions.

Please note that I have no control over the content on those websites or in those apps. Therefore, I am not responsible for the practices and content by or on those websites and apps. Please refer to the privacy policies of those third-party websites and apps for more information on data use.

Want to know more about the possible collaborations behind those links. For example, how to know if something is sponsored or advertising? You can read more about that in my disclaimer.

Furthermore, below each article you will see buttons to share content via social media. These buttons are enabled by code originating from those parties themselves. Among other things, this code places a cookie. You can read more in the privacy statements of, for example, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and Twitter.

THIS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT MY STATISTICS

Through WordPress and Google Analytics, I have access to statistics of my website. I can't see who visits my site, but I can, for example, see how many people visit my site, which country/region they come from, which articles and links are clicked on. I can also see how you arrived at my site (e.g. via Instagram, Google or another external link).

On Instagram, Pinterest and LinkedIn, I have access to my account statistics such as number of views, reach, likes, engagement and, again, aggregated data from visitors.

Through Mailchimp, I can access statistics of my newsletter. This allows me to see who (which e-mail address) opened the mail (and who did not). In aggregated form, I can see how many clicks there have been on links from my newsletter.

When I work with brands, I share the results of my campaigns in aggregated form, such as website visits and performance of Instagram content. So that can never be traced back to an individual person.

WHO DO I SHARE YOUR DATA WITH?

In principle, I never simply provide personal data to third parties. There are a few exceptions to this, which I explain to you here.

Thegreenlist.nl may be legally obliged to share your data with third parties. For example, if a crime is suspected.

In addition, I engage third parties in the performance of my services and sometimes share data with third parties for this reason. For example, I share data:

  • of website visitors with the parties involved in my website (such as a website builder or hosting party);
  • of users of my newsletter with Mailchimp and my editorial assistant in order to send the newsletter;
  • with (financial) advisers and IT people when it comes to carrying out paid collaborations, such as the e-bookkeeping programme I use for bookkeeping, the tax consultant I engage and possibly with a lawyer, solicitor or collection agency if payment is not made (on time).

I will always agree on confidentiality with third parties who have access to your personal data for the performance of their work. If these third parties process your personal data on my instructions, I will conclude a processing agreement where necessary. In this, I will in any case lay down that these third parties are also obliged to comply with privacy legislation. Some third parties we engage are independently responsible for the processing of your personal data and I therefore do not enter into a processing agreement with these parties. Think for example of a lawyer, jurist or collection agency.

THIS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT MY COOKIES

A cookie is a small text file that is stored on your computer, tablet or smartphone the first time you visit this website.

For the proper functioning of the website, thegreenlist.nl uses cookies. By default, when you visit the website, only those functional cookies are enabled. You cannot disable these cookies, as this will prevent the website from working properly.

Furthermore, we collect visitor data through Google Analytics. We have enabled Google Analytics in the manner prescribed by the Personal Data Authority in the PRIVACY-FRIENDLY GOOGLE ANALYTICS SETUP GUIDE. Should there be any changes in this, we will adjust Google Analytics settings accordingly.

Finally, you will also find embedded material on my website. For example, my own You Tube videos and the various podcast channels such as Spotify, iTunes, Podimo, etc. Parties we use for embedded material (such as You Tube and podcast channels) usually also place cookies. Don't forget to read those cookie declarations!

STORAGE

Your data will be kept by thegreenlist.nl for a longer period of time, but never longer than necessary for the performance of activities, unless I am required to keep your data for longer under a legal regulation. For specific retention periods, please refer to the periods I have explained in the above for each activity.

SECURITY

Security of your personal data is very important to me. Naturally, I ensure that your personal data are properly secured. I always use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data.

RIGHTS VISITORS

The privacy laws entail various rights for you as a reader of my site.

INSPECTION, RECTIFICATION OR DELETION

You have the right to access the data I collect from you. You may ask me to correct them or delete them. I am obliged to do so if you ask.

OBJECT TO PROCESSING

You may object to the processing of your personal data.

TRANSFERRING DATA (DATA PORTABILITY)

You may always ask me to transfer your personal data to another party.

RIGHT TO WITHDRAW CONSENT

If you have previously consented to the use of your personal data, you can still withdraw that consent without giving reasons.

ESTABLISH IDENTITY

You can e-mail a request to inspect, correct or delete your personal data or request the revocation of your consent or objection to the processing of your personal data.

I am obliged to check that the request for access is really made by you. It must be prevented that I provide your data to the wrong person. There are two ways to establish your identity:

  • We can make an appointment where you come by to show your ID so that I can check it. In that case, I will not make a copy of it and will only note the document number with which you have identified yourself.
  • If you do not want this, I ask you to send a copy of your identity document with the request. In this copy, black out your passport photo, MRZ (machine readable zone, the strip of numbers at the bottom of the passport), passport number and Citizen Service Number (BSN). This is to protect your privacy. You can use the COPY ID APP.

I will respond to your request as soon as possible, but no later than 30 days.

COMPLAIN TO PERSONAL DATA AUTHORITY

If, in your opinion, the processing of personal data is not going the right way, you can always lodge a complaint with the Personal Data Authority. Of course, I hope you will then approach me first so that I can see if we can resolve this together.

All updates to the privacy statement are shown on this page with the date listed for the last update. Changes to the privacy statement are effective immediately, so please check this page regularly.
