Chapati is Indian flatbread.

(Indian flatbread): easy side dish

Chapati is Indian flatbread and is a delicious accompaniment to a dry Indian curry, aloo beans. I like to tell you how I easily make these rolls myself. It adds just a little something extra to your vegan curry dish.

Kitchenware

  • kitchen scales
  • measuring cup
  • mixing bowl
  • rolling pin
  • frying pan
  • kitchen tongs

Ingredients

  • 75 gr flower
  • 75 gr wholemeal flour
  • 75 ml water

Instructions

Prepare

  • Add the flour and wholemeal flour along with the water to a mixing bowl and knead with your hands for about 5 minutes to form a soft and smooth dough.
  • Divide the dough into 6 equal pieces, turn these into balls and roll them out to a few mm thick.
  • If necessary, use a little extra flour if the dough sticks to the rolling pin.

Finish

  • Heat a frying pan and place the chapati in it.
  • When both sides are dry and small bubbles form, use kitchen tongs to hold the chapati over the fire (without the pan).
  • The flatbread will blow up.
  • Repeat until the dough is used up.

Notes

Don't cook on gas? Then fry the chapati just a little longer in the pan. He won't blow up much then.
