Christmas DIY: spruce up old baubles with string
Whether you are going for a classic Christmas tree or looking for a modern twist, you can go either way with this DIY for baubles. The style of your baubles depends entirely on the rope you choose. Thick wool in a bright colour gives a cheerful and eye-catching look, while thin twine or jute gives a natural, rustic feel. So you can effortlessly adapt this DIY to your Christmas style. Or be surprised by what ropes and balls of wool you can find at the charity shop.

Start at the top at the hook of the bauble. Generously coat the top part (about a quarter of the ball) with glue.
Wrap the rope around the ball. Make sure to connect well so that nothing more of the ball can be seen. Press the rope tightly.
Continue spreading and keep wrapping. Work in pieces and continue until you are just over halfway through the ball.
From this point on, it gets a little trickier to hold the ball. Put it upside down on a glass or cap, with the already wrapped part down. This makes it easier to continue working.
When you are almost at the end, cut the rope. Spread the last piece generously with glue and press firmly in place. Leave to dry thoroughly.
