With jackfruit, you can put a delicious vegan fries hair salon on the table in no time. A vegan version of this dish is much better for the planet, your health and the animals. And it is at least as tasty!
Drain the cans of jackfruit and drain well. Squeeze the jackfruit well and pull apart solid pieces as much as possible. Cut any hard pieces small.
Put the jackfruit in a bowl and marinate with the pieces of garlic, herbs and spices. Leave this to stand for a few hours. The longer, the better the flavours soak in.
Prepare the fries in the airfryer or oven according to instructions on the packet.
Meanwhile, make the garlic sauce by mixing the ingredients in a bowl. Season with salt and pepper. Set aside for a while.
Fry the onion in oil for 2 minutes and add the pepper strips and marinated jackfruit. Fry for about 5 minutes and season with 2 tbsp soy sauce, a little sambal, a dash of ketchup, agave syrup, salt and pepper.
Put the baked chips in a large baking dish and sprinkle vegan cheese grater on top. Put in the oven for a while more until slightly melted. Remove from the oven and garnish with lettuce, then the fried jackfruit, cucumber pieces and top with the homemade garlic sauce. Eat immediately.
