Zero waste recipe: make your own hair wax

You can buy ready-made hair wax in a jar, but with a few ingredients you can also make it at home. And it's really easy too, it turns out. This tip belongs in the list of sustainable, zero waste budget tips.

Tools

  • pan for heating
  • sealable jar

Materials

  • 12 gr beeswax (or 6 g candelilla wax for vegans)
  • 30 gr coconut oil
  • 10 gr shea butter
  • 6 gr argan oil
  • pair drops essential oil of your choice optional

Instructions

  • Put all the ingredients in a glass jar and put it in a pan with a splash of water on the stove. Heat until everything is melted.
  • Stir together and add another five to 10 drops of essential oil of your choice, if needed.
  • Pour the hot liquid into a jar and let it cool. After cooling, screw on the lid. You can store the hair wax for six months.
