Eco-friendly deodorant tips.

List of favourite eco-friendly deodorant

Say goodbye to fuzzy ingredients under your armpits. For several years now, Saskia has been smearing her deodorant a lot more environmentally consciously. That means quite a few spreads have ended up under her armpits. Not everything has been a success - hello bumps and exerting sweat odour - but fortunately there have also been some real stayers. In this article, she takes you through her favourite eco-friendly deodorants. In short, a handy overview of favourites. Nice for yourself and the people who regularly sit next to you.

Choosing eco-friendly deodorant

So what actually makes a deodorant more sustainable? Think natural ingredients, preferably no microplastics and packaging you can refill or recycle properly. Aerosols are better left alone. They contain propellants that are not so fresh for the air quality. A reliable label, such as COSMOS or Natrue, will also help you on your way. And do you see ‘vegan’ or ‘cruelty-free’ on the packaging? That, of course, is also a good thing. Want to know exactly what to look out for when choosing an eco-friendly deodorant? In this article, we list everything for you: Choosing sustainable deodorant: what to look out for?

Good deodorant tips

To guide you through that selection process, below we share our six favourites as well as tell you why these deodorants have become a keeper in our morning ritual.

Earth Line

What makes this deodorant so nice is that it is a cream in a handy tube. It spreads easily, has a subtle fresh scent and keeps odours well in check. Earth Line is a Dutch brand with a complete range of natural cosmetics. It is certified with the COSMOS label, among others, and completely free of microplastics. Their flagship product: vitamin E, a caring ingredient that helps soothe your skin and keep it supple. We previously wrote about this beautiful skincare brand. All products are made in the Netherlands on green power from wind energy. We are fans! Find out more about Earth Line.

Eco-friendly deodorant: Nice.

Nice

The deodorant from The Lekker Company comes in a completely plastic-free cardboard jar and you apply with your fingers. This deodorant also spreads wonderfully, absorbs quickly and leaves no streaks. We have tried almost all the variants - all of them fine. This deo is made from 100% natural ingredients, is vegan, contains no microplastics AND is made by a certified B Corp. Nice going. There is also a cardboard deostick if you like that better! Find out more about Lekker.

Eco-friendly deodorant: Nuud.

Nuud

This deodorant was tipped so often by our followers that we just had to try it. Nuud comes in a handy sugarcane plastic tube and applies like a cream. A handy deostick of Nuud is also available. You only need a tiny bit - it often keeps you fresh for days. Instead of aluminium or perfume, Nuud uses odour-reducing alternatives such as microsilver. The deodorant is vegan and microplastic-free, made in the Netherlands and shipped CO2-neutral. Find out more about Nuud.

Sustainable deodorant: We Love The Planet.

We Love The Planet

We Love The Planet offers a cream-deo in a handy tin and a variant in a cardboard stick, ideal if you prefer not to use fingers. The formula is 100% natural, free of microplastics and animal testing. This deodorant has a nice fragrance - whichever scent you choose - and feels pleasantly soft on the skin. Find out more about We Love The Planet.

Eco-friendly deodorant: Dr Hauschka.

Dr Hauschka

A classic in a sustainable jacket: Dr Hauschka's rose deodorant comes in an elegant glass bottle and has a soft, floral scent. The formula is mild and natural, based on rose water and essential oils. A ten! Dr Hauschka is an anthroposophical brand that works with biodynamically grown ingredients and opts for honest, transparent production. All products are NATRUE-certified, cruelty-free and are made CO2 neutrally in Germany. And yes, even the packaging is thoughtful: recyclable glass with a roller. Find out more about this deo.

Salt of the Earth

Salt of the Earth makes deodorant in all forms: from their signature crystal stick to roll-ons, refillable sprays and even deo in a glass jar. The roll-on and spray in particular do well here. The crystal stick takes some getting used to, it is a solid mineral salt deodorant that you apply to wet skin. It leaves a thin layer of salt that prevents the growth of odour-causing bacteria. The roller and refillable sprays are the absolute winner: easy to use, fresh, dries quickly and leaves no white haze. All products are 100% natural, COSMOS Natural-certified, vegan, microplastic-free and recognised by Leaping Bunny. And: the sprays are refillable, so this brand scores green on that front too. Eco-friendly deodorant: which one suits you?

As you can see, there is plenty to choose from if you are looking for a deodorant that is better for you and the planet. Whether you prefer lubricating, rolling or spraying, these personal favourites prove that eco-friendly can also just be tasty. Have you made another great discovery yourself? Please let us know! We are always looking for new green recommendations.
