Car boot sale Ouderkerkerkerplas, flea market Amsterdam.

This second-hand market near Amsterdam is a hidden gem

Some places you prefer to keep secret, simply because you fear they will lose their charm. The boot market at the Ouderkerkerplas is one of those. Saskia has been strolling around here for years. Once a small market, it has now grown into a cosy happening with some one hundred and fifty stalls, ground spots and tasty eateries. A free morning out where you might just go home with a bag full of finds.

In the beautiful nature area around the Ouderkerkerplas, organiser Mico-event has been hosting their car boot market for years. The principle is simple: a flea market is really just a flea market, but you sell directly from your car, which is parked next to your rug or stall. Convenient for the sellers. Six times a year, you can hunt here for second-hand bargains at prices that will make your heart beat faster. Think brand new All Stars for two euros, nice toys for a trifle and furniture, accessories or books as you would expect at a good flea market. Here you can still find golden finds.

On a practical note, the dates of the boot market will be via Facebook announced. This is also where you can register for a sales spot (though this is for a fee). Want to sell yourself? Be quick, as spots are often sold out at lightning speed. According to the website the market is held an average of six times a year, usually in the better spring and summer months (followed by a winter break). And now for the best part: admission for visitors and parking are completely free. And that right near Amsterdam. Wow! (And fine.) That way you keep nice extra budget for your finds. Tip: come early and park in the designated areas, as there are occasional checks and fines.

You can visit the boot market at the Ouderkerkerplas near Amsterdam on an average of six times a year on a Sunday (free of charge)! Truly a gem!
