Circular Dreams makes sustainable bedding affordable

Buying sustainable bedding is often very expensive. Fortunately, there is now a cheap alternative to sustainable bedding. Interesting! In the Circular Dreams webshop, you can find affordable, high-quality recycled bedding. Mascha was allowed to choose and test a beautiful sustainable duvet cover for her bedroom. Are you already familiar with Circular Dreams' sustainable bed textiles?

More sustainable than new at Circular Dreams

In partnership with Circular Dreams

When you think of sustainable bedding, you often think of sustainable materials like using tencel, organic cotton or bamboo, or labels like GOTS or Fairtrade. That's one step more sustainable. But saving a duvet cover from landfill is even better. By putting existing products back on the market, no raw materials, energy and water are needed. Because nothing new is made! And that is exactly what Circular Dreams does. Circular Dreams takes returned bedding, bedding with a small flaw, and used bedding and brings it back to you. Before it hits the webshop, it is checked, washed, repaired (if necessary) and ironed. Thus, they choose the highest quality reused products and avoid throwing away huge amounts of textiles. Choosing Circular Dreams bedding is so much more sustainable than new!

Choices in sustainable duvet covers

Circular Dreams let me choose a duvet cover from the webshop. That's not so easy; I was frankly suffering from choice stress. There are three types of bed textiles for sale at Circular Dreams: used returns, Imperfectly perfect and Vintage. Used returns are return flows from sales or duvet covers used in showrooms. Imperfectly perfect bed textile has a small (weaving) fault or hole, but is otherwise as good as new. The webshop clearly indicates the deviation. Finally, there are the Vintage Duvet covers; second-hand covers from individuals. Circular Dreams has a choice of all duvet cover sizes; single, double, twin and extra wide twin. They also sell fitted sheets in these sizes. There is bedding to suit every taste and preference. For our bedroom, I chose a Used return From Beddinghouse: the Botanico green duvet cover with beautiful jungle motif.

My duvet cover

After choosing the recycled duvet cover from Circular Dreams‘ webshop, my duvet cover was delivered the very next day. I was pleasantly surprised that the bed textile was delivered completely plastic-free. The bed textile feels like new and definitely does not look second-hand. My chosen duvet cover was neatly washed and ironed, so we were able to sleep under our ’new' sustainable duvet cover immediately the same night. The bedding sleeps wonderfully soft and comfortable. And the new print Botanico green instantly gives our bedroom a whole new fresh look.

How do you keep bedding looking its best for the longest time?

Choosing sustainable recycled bedding is a great choice for your bedroom and our planet. And of course you want to use it for as long as possible. Taking good care of your bed linen is extra sustainable. This way, you can get more out of your sustainable bedding:

  • Do not wash your bed textiles at high temperatures, choose 30°C instead. This way, you save energy and the colours and materials of your bedding will last longer. You can read more about sustainable washing and washing machines here.
  • Don't put your duvet cover in the dryer, but hang it on the washing line. If you shake out the duvet cover and pillow cases well and hang them up neatly, you won't have to iron them either. That way, the fabric doesn't wear out and you use less electricity!
  • Always wash your bedding inside out to prevent pilling of the fabric.
  • Sort your laundry by type and colour. Wash light bedding with other white and light laundry. And put coloured and dark bed linen in the washing machine with the same colours. That way your bedding won't discolour!
  • Bonus tip: also clean your mattress regularly. Sprinkle baking soda on the mattress and leave it for a few hours. Then vacuum up all the baking soda with a hoover and remove unwanted odours, hairs, dust and dust mites. This way, you will sleep on a fresh mattress again! View the detailed instruction here.
