We have discovered another gem for you in Utrecht. Stadsjochies is a true green gem in Utrecht-Oost: a ‘greenhouse restaurant’ where what grows in the greenhouse also ends up directly on your plate. You eat here - literally - among the herbs, flowers and vegetable plants, overlooking the garden in which your dish might have grown just this morning.
Food on the table
At Stadsjochies, everything revolves around the season. There is no set menu, but you sit down for a surprise menu of four or six courses, depending on how hungry you are. What you get? That depends entirely on what has been harvested that day. Vegetables, herbs and edible flowers play the main role. Small amounts of meat or fish are used - sustainable, of course - but you can just as easily indicate that you prefer to eat veg or vegan. No problem, just let us know in advance.
Seeing your food
If you decide to treat yourself to an evening here, we have a tip: make sure you get there at 6pm. Then you can join a tour of the greenhouse and garden. Super fun to see where your food comes from with a home-made drink or glass of wine in your hand and to get hungry in advance. After all, Stadsjochies is not only green on your plate, but also behind the scenes. They work without pesticides, ensure healthy, biodiverse soil and combine various cultivation methods: in the greenhouse, in the field and in a permaculture garden. Whatever does not come from their own greenhouse, they buy as much as possible from local farmers.
