Podcasts and audiobooks are i-de-aal for children and their parents. They offer hours of entertainment without a minute of screen time. Enough reasons, therefore, to compile a nice list of educational children's podcasts. Together with our followers, we have compiled a great list of educational children's podcasts. The tips below are for children of primary school age, from grade 3 onwards.
Educational podcasts for children
- Roar: In the children's podcast of DierenPark Amersfoort, you will discover everything about animals, nature and the zoo. Every episode, Hylke dives into the animal world together with a real animal expert of our park.
- Freek Vonk, Expedition Ocean: In this children's podcast, children learn all about the magic of the sea and get tips to leave the world a little better. This podcast is made in collaboration with Albert Heijn and Naturalis Biodiversity Center.
- Freek Vonk, Sleep stories: in the night, every sound is an adventure... Discover the wonderful listening stories as well as a bedtime reading story.
- Freek Vonk, Animals make themselves heard: In this podcast, Dutch biologist and adventurer Freek Vonk takes you to the most extraordinary places on earth. Together with him, you will search for the funniest, most beautiful and most exciting animal sounds in nature.
- Greene ears: in this podcast series, plants, trees and animals tell their own story: who are they, what does their daily life look like?
- Klokhuis podcast / Indispensable inventions: each episode is about an invention or development that changed the world. Or rather, things that we think are quite ordinary, but that turn out to be incredibly important. Also very interesting and entertaining for parents, so the perfect podcast to listen to together in the car!
- Mission feeler: exciting insect adventures! In this children's podcast, forest ranger Tim and Emmely Voelspriet investigate all kinds of unusual little critters.
- NOS Jeugdjournaal podcast: the podcast for curious children. In the NOS Jeugdjournaal podcast, Bart Tuinman and Malou van der Starre answer children's questions on a news topic every week.
- Meerkats: This educational podcast for children is a journey of discovery through the world of science. Each episode, a scientist answers a question asked by children. But, they also do experiments ánd go exploring themselves!
- Sterrin's Animal Encyclopaedia: in this podcast series, join ecologist Sterrin Smalbrugge to learn all about the cutest, sweetest and most unusual animals that exist in the world.
- When I was twelve: a podcast by Willem Wever telling exciting stories that really happened. Because sometimes, without knowing it, you are part of a major event in Dutch history. Also very interesting for parents, so the perfect podcast to listen to together in the car. Which is smart too, because some of the stories are quite exciting and for that a listen-along recommendation applies.
- Science: a Flemish podcast for children about science. Each episode they search for the answer to a question.
