What would you do without all-purpose cleaner. You clean almost everything with it. What do you think is in that almost-everything cleaner you buy in the shop? Surprisingly little we now know. This time, zero waste expert Emily-Jane Townley shares her DIY recipe for all-purpose cleaner. So you can príííma make your own.

Making your own all-purpose cleaner

How easy? Well very easy! I won't leave you in suspense any longer, but with just three ingredients (one of which is water) and in five minutes, I make my favourite all-purpose cleaner. To throw in another little challenge, I will share two recipes with you. A super easy one for the lazy cleaner and an extra tasty one with old citrus peels for the enthusiast.

Zero waste recipe: make your own all-purpose cleaner

How easy? Well that's how easy is this zero waste recipe for all-purpose cleaner. A DIY that can be done in five minutes. What do you think? Are you going to make your own everything cleaner in the future too. It only takes you five minutes and a few cents.

Tools

  • spray bottle
  • sealable weckpot(Optional: only if you are going to make your own flavouring from citrus peels).

Materials

  • 150 ml natural vinegar
  • 500 ml water
  • 10 drops essential (lemon) oil (Alternative: citrus fruit peels, such as orange, lemon).

Instructions

  • Put 150 ml of natural vinegar and 500 ml of water plus a few drops of essential oil in an old spray bottle.
  • You can start cleaning right away.
  • Spray the all-purpose cleaner on the surface to be cleaned and wipe off with a wet cloth.

Making all-purpose cleaner with citrus peels

  • Cut up the citrus peels of about four oranges (or lemons).
  • Put them in a sealable jar and add vinegar until the jar is almost full.
  • Seal the jar and leave it like this for 10 to 14 days.
  • Strain out the peels and put your homemade all-purpose cleaner in a spray bottle.
  • Top up with some water if you find the all-purpose cleaner too strong.
