Crafting a Christmas angel from scrap paper

For many people, Christmas is still about buying more: more baubles, more garlands, more decoration. But it can be done differently. Making your own decorations from what you already have at home is not only good for the planet, it's also much more fun. You give something a second life and make something unique, without it being complicated. This Christmas angel is the perfect example of that. You fold, glue and you're done. This is also great for children!

With some old papers and a wooden bead, you can make your own Christmas angel in no time.

Materials

  • paper e.g. music paper, colouring books, old printing paper
  • glue gun
  • wooden bead
  • stapler
  • rope
  • scissors

Instructions

  • Fold a sheet of A4 paper into a harmonica. Make folds about 1 cm wide across the long side.
  • Fold this harmonica in half and glue the halves together. This will be the body of the angel.
  • Cut a second A4 sheet in half (width-wise).
  • Fold one of the halves into a harmonica again, this time across the short side.
  • Fold this harmonica in half and not in the middle. This will keep all the layers together well.
  • Glue the small harmonica (the wings) on top of the large one (the dress).
  • Make a loop of string. Fold it in half and glue the ends into the hole of the wooden bead with the glue gun.
  • Stick the bead on top of the dress. And voilà: your angel is ready to hang!
