An ideal holiday with children: book a holiday to a nature campsite where outdoor play is the main attraction. Mascha likes to tell you about her great experience at popular nature campsite Lolotte where everything is about playing outside and discovering nature. ‘The Achterhoek in Gelderland is beautiful!’
Great holiday in Gelderland!
When we first heard of Camping Lolotte in Neede (Gelderland), we immediately booked a spot for their first season. We went camping by tent for the first time with three children aged (then) 6, 4 and 1.5. My husband and I are experienced campers, but we had not camped with the three boys before. That's why we chose a campsite in the Netherlands, nice and close to home. We like to choose a relatively small campsite, with enough to do for the children, but without a K3 children's disco. On Lolotte we had the most amazing holiday! That's why we decided to go for just another week in 2019.
Nature campsite Lolotte: for real campers and glamping guests
Camping Lolotte is located on the border of Gelderland and Overijssel in the Achterhoek. Lolotte rightly calls itself a nature campsite. Lolotte has made every effort to keep the campsite as natural as possible. That means spacious camping pitches on large fields with a playground and/or sandpit. The fields are surrounded by many trees and shrubs and in the middle of the campsite is a large play pond. Each campsite has its own fireplace for lovely long (summer) evenings.
The campsite is car-free (since 2020), so children have all the space they need. Don't expect an entertainment team here that will entertain your children from morning to night with pre-prepared fuss. At Lolotte campsite, your child can go on adventures of their own. And for those who want the camping experience in a little more luxury: the wooden cottages ‘La Lo Lotte‘ are the answer.
Children's campsite: outdoor play on the mud playground
Camping Lolotte is a real children's campsite. Above all, it has lots of space to play. We are on a field with families with children in the same age category. As a result, our boys quickly connect with other children on the field. They have a great time; they build sandcastles, cycle around on the sandy paths, play hide-and-seek and tag in the bushes and have fun in the (unheated) swimming pool. And Lolotte's jewel: the mud play area, providing hours of fun with mud and messing about. And parents love playing outdoors too. We bake sand pies, gather wood for the campfire, loaf around our tent and sit around the campfire with other campers until late in the evening. What a wonderful playground for parents and children!
Camping programme: ‘learning how to light a fire’ and ‘searching for itchy critters’
Besides the freedom to enjoy yourself, Camping Lolotte also organises something fun for children almost every day during the school holidays. During our holidays, we take part in the ‘learning to light a fire’ workshop, the morning ‘in the mud with your mum’, and we go searching for tickle bugs with the forest ranger in the woods, do a hexathlon around the campsite and hear bedtime stories for the little ones. We further enjoy the weekly supper table, where we eat the most delicious plant-based and organic dishes. What a delight to get together with other campsite guests at long tables, and enjoy the delicious food together.

Camping Lolotte is, as far as we are concerned, everything it promises: a lovely nature campsite where outdoor play is the main attraction. We had a wonderful time!
The Achterhoek is beautiful!
There is also plenty to do and see around Camping Lolotte. We tip you off to the best outings around Camping Lolotte:
- We walk over the Needse Berg to the Needse Achterveld through a beautiful part of Achterhoek; a fine distance that can also be walked with children. There are also longer distances to walk, but we were in Neede during a heatwave, so we left it at that.
- On a rainy day, we take a ride on the historic steam train between Haaksbergen and Boekelo. We see the beautiful surroundings and the boys enjoy the train ride, and the little Neighbourhood Railway Museum.
- We visit the beautiful Warmelo castle in Diepenheim, and take a walk through the garden around it. Our boys marvelled at the beautiful sand sculptures on display.
- Estate Erve Brooks is an absolute must. The adventure trail and barefoot path, play mountain, museum farm and pancake restaurant guarantee a wonderful day with the whole family.
- We visit The Land of Punch in Braamt; an old-fashioned cosy family amusement park with indoor and outdoor playgrounds and puppet shows.
