New additions to the greener shopping list

  • Bold Bean CoBeans are just beans, aren't they? That's what we thought too. Until we tasted these. With the new Disk of Five, in which beans and legumes play an important role in a healthy and nutritious diet, we still wanted to share this tip with you. The beans from Bold Bean Co are strikingly large (much larger than you are probably used to) and therefore firm in structure and simply delicious. Furthermore, the brand has a clear green mission: to get more people enthusiastic about beans. This is not only good for your plate, but also for the soil, as legumes enrich the soil by binding nitrogen from the air. And another plus: Bold Bean Co is B Corp-certified and works with farmers committed to more sustainable agriculture.
  • Favourite sandwich topping at our house: this Crunchy Almond Chai from TerraSana. It goes into the lunchbox almost daily. The Dutch brand has long been a well-known name when it comes to organic products, and they work closely with small-scale producers. Their Asian cooking products and nut butters are particular favourites of ours. This variety combines creamy almond butter with warm chai spices and a pleasant crunch. The flavour is a bit reminiscent of speculoos on your bread, but just a bit spicier. Nice detail: This nut butter is made in the Netherlands and we were there!
  • The Chocolate Spread Shop: another treat for your bread. Well, where to begin. That the pot inside here no-time The "op" [= topping] already says enough. Those pieces of chocolate and caramel ensure that the spoon keeps disappearing into the pot. Okay, it's not necessarily the healthiest option, but sometimes it doesn't need to be. Pure indulgence.
  • No Waste Army x Kesbeke: this pot has a lovely story. No Waste Army It redcoats ingredients that would otherwise be wasted and turns them into new products (which you get sent home with a membership). For example, this limited-edition red cabbage was in a box, made from cabbages rescued from Flevoland. Instead of ending up on the scrap heap, they were pickled by Kesbeke, the well-known Amsterdam family business that has been making table pickles for generations. It was a delicious addition to our veggie chicken burgers, with which we ushered in the weekend. And meanwhile, you're also helping to reduce food waste a little.
  • Tea of LifeThis tea also deserves a spot on this greener list. Tea of Life makes organic and Fairtrade tea, working directly with tea producers. A nice detail: the tea bags are microplastic-free, something we think everyone should pay attention to. And it's readily available in most supermarkets, handy! Read more about microplastics in tea here!

So, are you going to try these? In the meantime, we'll happily continue tasting and testing. If you come back here later, there will surely be a new batch of tips ready for you.
