Zero waste recipe: make your own lip balm

You can also make your own lip balm and it's super fun to do, because you can vary endlessly both in colour and flavour. Ever thought of nutella or elderflower flavoured lip balm? This is zero waste expert Emily-Jane Townley's DIY recipe to make your own lip balm!

Making your own lip balm

If you're expecting a complicated DIY recipe right now, you can roll off your chair laughing. Making your own lip balm is really quite easy to do. You need two ingredients and it takes ten minutes.

For dry lips, I use my homemade lip balm. This is very easy to make and you can reuse your old stick or jar. Just clean it, let it dry well and fill it with new balm. If you want more of a lipstick, you can add edible colouring powder. It's also fun to make a flavoured stick. Basically anything you can eat, you can put in it. From nutella to vanilla and from elderflower in spring to cinnamon and cloves in winter. I share my favourite recipe. Your homemade lip balm will keep for at least six months. This tip is a zero waste, sustainable budget tip all in one.
